Sefik Bursali Art Gallery

Located in the cultural and historical heart of Bursa, the Sefik Bursali Art Gallery is a single-story, semi-subterranean building situated on a corner lot, facing the historic Bursa Municipality Building and the Tayyare Cultural Center. The gallery is being renovated with a minimalist and unobtrusive design approach to remain in harmony with the facades of these iconic structures that reflect the architectural style of their period. In this context, a facade compatible with the travertine material used in the Orhangazi Bazaar Underpass has been proposed, along with floor-to-ceiling aluminum joinery and stainless steel eaves. The interior layout has been redesigned to preserve the gallery’s function while adding multipurpose spaces such as a workshop and a library. Modern materials such as epoxy flooring, drywall partitions, and exposed concrete ceilings have been used to create a brighter and more flexible space.
