Alacati Fishing Port

Alaçatı Fishing Port was built in the 1990s on the area currently used as a marina, and was moved to its current location in the early 2000s. The area was allocated to the fishing cooperative in April 2024. Despite this important function, there aren’t any places in the area where fishes will be stored under hygienic conditions and brought together with commercial institutions and the public; it lacks areas for fishermen to prepare and socialize. The aim of the project, prepared with the cooperative’s own resources, is to re-plan the area with a contemporary approach and transform it into a modern Fishing Port. One of the most important criteria to be taken into consideration in this important transformation will be to preserve the public character of the area. The fisherman’s cafe and the fish auction area are the dominant elements of the design. These two areas are separated by a courtyard with an olive tree, the symbol of the Aegean, in the center. The fishing port was designed with a steel carrier, and thanks to the section, natural ventilation and shade were tried to be used.
