Ormos Tartısık

Ormos Tartısık is a residential project located in Ayvacık, Çanakkale, in the North Aegean, taking its name from the village of Tartısık, where it is located. Tartısık Village is a village with approximately 15 inhabited houses, located in the northeast of Ayvacık Town Centre. The village is at a very easily accessible point due to its location. So much so that if you pass the Osmangazi Bridge from Istanbul, you can reach the village in 4.5 hours, and if you pass the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, you can reach the village in 4 hours. Another advantage of the village’s location is its proximity to Ayvacık Town Center.

The houses are dispersed in two separate areas within the village, which we call Tartısık East and Tartısık West. On the east plots, there are five three bedroom houses, whereas on the west plots, there are four houses that can be designed either as two or three bedroom units. While the houses on the east plots face towards the Ayvacık Dam, the ones on the west plots are oriented towards the village texture over their gardens.

Each house stands out with its natural stone facade cladding originating from the region. This stone pavement is divided by floor moldings, strengthening the sense of horizontality conveyed by the mass. Between the moldings, the windows with aluminum joinery and shutters create a rich relationship between the interior and the exterior. Pergolas with steel carriers and thatch tops added to the front of the houses and continuing along the front facade facilitate outdoor use. The village type oven and open kitchen counter in the garden enrich this use even more.

The feeling of simplicity and naturalness on the facades is maintained in the interior as well, thanks to the marble coating used on the floor and wet areas, the stone-clad fireplace and the pastel colors on the fixed furniture and the wall surfaces. Ease of use and spaciousness come to the fore in the plans of the houses.

Ormos Tartısık is a project that aims to bring together the housing typology that has existed in the region for centuries, with contemporary needs and design understanding… Simple, natural, local, neither less, nor more…
